We started off the day with a team builder and then hit the road to the Kelly Campus to learn all about maps and compasses. First, we did an activity called “musical directions” to learn north, east, south, and west. We then went on a short hike down to Ditch Creek to play and make trail signs out of rocks, all while navigating with our compasses! In the afternoon we learned about contour lines and made our own mountains with contour lines out of playdough.
Follow-up question: If a mountain is steep, are the contour lines closer or further apart?
Answer: closer together
