We started our day by getting to know one another and learning about our themes for the week! After playing a few team building games, we created a flag for our camp that represents leadership and a little piece of us. Later, we hiked up Vogel’s Hill and while on the top, we learned about animal adaptations along with different types of plants. Once back down, we gave some of our teammates the opportunity to teach us some new games like frog detective, big booty, and night at the museum!
Follow-up question: What does it mean to be a good hiker (naturalist)? Also, which is the yuckiest animal that we read about?
Answer: Hiker/naturalist: to be respectful of nature by not picking plants or kicking rocks, clean up after yourself, be observant, stay on the trail, ask questions… Yuckiest animal- answer will vary: rabbit, eagle, moose, vulture, etc.
