We started the day with some awesome geology activities, including making sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks with clay and then demonstrating geyser and volcano eruptions by exploding Diet Coke and Mentos. We then went to Mormon Row to view the Gros Ventre Slide using binoculars and to do a rock scavenger hunt. On our way back to campus, we stopped by the Craig Thomas Discovery Center to watch a film on the geologic formation of the Tetons.
Follow-up question: Describe how sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks are formed.
Answer: Sedimentary: layers on layers! Igneous: Volcanic lava cools. Metamorphic: Heat and pressure!
