Today we had a water cycle scavenger hunt in the back of Coyote Canyon. We explored the meaning of precipitation, condensation & evaporation by imagining that we were single droplets of water! We returned to the classroom and developed hypotheses on an experiment that we conducted with two glasses of water (one covered, one not) to see which one will evaporate as the week goes on. We finished the day creating beautiful water colors that included examples of the water cycle!
Follow-up question: What is the water cycle?
Answer: A single droplet of water evaporates into the sky by the sun’s heat and joins other water droplets gathered together to create clouds called condensation. When the clouds are full of water droplets precipitation occurs! Examples of precipitation are rain, snow, hail, etc.
