Today we visited the Raptor Center in Wilson. We saw real birds of prey and learned about their eating habits and flying mechanisms! We then ate lunch at Wilson Park, drove to the Swan Ponds, and learned about bird beak characteristics on campus.
Follow-up question: What was your favorite animal you saw today? How are different bird beaks an advantage and a disadvantage for different food sources.
Answer: Owl, Hawk, Eagle! Some beaks are large and can pick up fish, others are long like a straw to suck up nectar, and others are also like tweezers, good for eating worms!
